In the "yes, I can't believe it myself" category:
-Yesterday, I emailed a woman and asked her to resolve a pending port to another carrier (you can't have two requests in to port to another carrier. If you want to port to Vonage, all other requests must be cancelled.) I CLEARLY signed the email Rebecca D. Today, I got a response saying "Hello Claudette". Claudette? Seriously? I'm both humored and insulted by this.
-A man called in yesterday to speak to one of my colleagues, J. When he was speaking to her, he said "you can't be the same J. because the other J. spoke French." Now, J. has NEVER spoken French in her life yet he knew her full name and her extension. AND he had talked to her before.
I have reached my goal of 100 books for the year. I want to wait until the end of the year to actually update as I don't plan to stop at 100 books. I think I'll do a more complete kind of update including the books I most highly recommend and why.
I am now reading an excellent collection of short stories I got off Borders's bargain rack. I's entitled Contemporary Fiction: 50 Short Stories since 1970. I have not found a bad story in here and I got it for under 7 dollars including tax. I highly, highly recommend it. I don't read short stories as often as I should but other excellent ones (if you have the mind to look for them) are Lorrie Moore's Birds of America and Jhumpha Lahiri's The Interpreter of Maladies.
I apologize for not replying to comments. I'm bad at it. Thankgiving was good. Anna is adorable and oh so three year old serious. She carries herself around with a grave air and only likes her new brother sometimes. Aaron is cute and has the amazing ability to sleep through lots of noisy people buzzing around him. I envy him that. My family is my family. Enough said there.
