I am sitting here eating blue tortila chips from Wegmans' with black bean and corn salsa and life is good. I had another driving lesson today-it went well except I really, truly hate parallel parking. Luckily, except for the driving test, you don't really need to parallel park that much around here. I'm getting more comfortable behind the wheel and just driving in general. It's not my favorite thing but I'll do it as necessary.

Work is going well. I find I actually enjoy my job for the most part and I can do work very, very quickly. I even (mostly) enjoy talking to the customers and find myself not getting annoyed with them but with some of the other Vonage agents who just make... really, really dumb mistakes and (at least the ones that aren't outsourced Indian workers) make more than me. That angers me but the job itself is good.

I have a three day weekend for my birthday next month. We might go up to Boston for a weekend-we're not sure yet. I just want to do something even if it's small or not fancy.

The ratties are doing well. They (especially Toby whom we call Potato Boy) are so much bigger and so CUTE. Here is a picture of Toby from when we first got him:

Also, here is a song that I really, really like right now. It's called "Re:Stacks" by Bon Iver. I will be posting some other favorite stuff soon as well but I've been listening to this song lots on my Itunes and Ipod lately.

I recently finished reading Barbara Kingsolver's book Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year in Food Life and have been inspired (at least to think) about going to the local farmer's market and buying stuff. I also just got out a book of vegetarian recipes from the library.

I looked up on the web things that are in season now-it appears in Pennsylvania it's cantaloupes, watermelon, and a whole bunch of vegetables. For those of you who visit farmer's markets and/or purchase locally grown food, what do you recommend? What are some easy recipes for someone who is just really starting to make real meals?

Thanks.
