I'm back from my weekend at my parents. The first part was spent pet-sitting while my parents were up in upstate New York and the second part was actually spent with them. I was pleasantly surprised to find it was a good weekend. I think it's the first time in perhaps ever where I felt like a real grownup around them and not a five year old kid squirming in my parents' presence.

I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that I've given up a lot of my anger and resentment issues toward them and what they did or didn't do for me. It happened, I can't change it, and I would like a pleasant and good relationship with my parents. Giving that up and just enjoying spending time with them (especially on the great abortive Internet hunt for a community theater phone number which none of us could find) was really, really nice.

I also got Snap curling up against my chest and batting at me, Ginger kneading my elbow repeatedly, telling my younger brother that using the paper shredder at 12:30 in the morning might not be the best idea ever, discussing why I can't be an egg donor for money, and more out of the weekend. All very, very good and I'm now resting a bit in my apartment before the Seder tonight and more school related things to do this week.
